Goals
Goals are very important to set. You may not think you have any goals, but you do. Everyone has a goal in life. A goal could range anywhere from waking up in the morning trying not to forget about brushing your teeth, and even picking what college you want to attend and how far you want to go.
I'll use myself for an example:
One of my big goals in life is to graduate from college and find a stable job. I don't want to end up working in a fast food restaurant like McDonald's my whole life. That's definitely not my ideal job.. or goal in life.
Some of my smaller goals are to just wake up everyday with a smile on my face, make everyone around me happy.. including myself. If you haven't set yourself a big goal yet, don't rush it. Make sure you really want to do that.

Thinking of The Future
Your marriage is heading for divorce...
-How would you settle property, custody, that kind of stuff?
If I were ever in this situation, it would depend on how old our children were. I would sit them down with their father and discuss their living situation. I don't think it would be fair to tell them how they are going to live. I want them to be comfortable with THEIR living situation. I would then discuss the property stuff with my husband.. settle it by who spent the most on what? That only seems to be fair.
Your elderly parents need to move in with you...
-What conflicts and adjustments arrive?
If my parents were ever to the point where they couldn't live on their own, I would take them into my home and care for them just as if they were my own. They took care of me my whole life when I couldn't. I don't see why I can't do the same for them?
My parents mean everything to me, so I would do whatever it took to
make them feel at home. Including being a cook, maid, and so fourth.
You are a single mother...
-How will you cope emotionally and financially?
If I were ever to be a single mom, I would be doing it for my own good and possibly my kids too. Depending on the situation, I would think my mom would be there for me most of the time. I wouldn't expect her to be, but that's just the type of person she really is. Emotionally, again, depending on the situation.. I may be a total mess. But I would never show that around my children. I would show them that I'm happy and that everything is going to be okay. We're in this together, I would tell them.
You just remarried...
-How will family discipline be handled with step-children? Chores? Space?
Depending on how often the step-children came to our home. If they lived with us full time, chores would be a definite yes. But if they lived with us only every other weekend, they are considered a guest, I would not make them do chores. I would leave it up to their father to discipline them, not me.

"Happy" before
For my Family Studies class in high school, I was asked to find a couple whom I think has a good relationship.
I chose my step-sister Jordan and her fiance Justin. They have known each other all through high school and didn't start to date until Jordan's senior year. Jordan and Justin decided to move out when Jordan graduated and just a few months ago they had my niece, Aubree Don. I think they're relationship is just perfect. They both love to hunt with a passion. Justin does anything and everything he can for Jordan. But Jordan does the same for him. I asked them what they thought the key to having a good relationship was, Jordan replied, "Being understanding and putting effort into the relationship is my ideal of a good relationship". Justin replied, "Making each other happy".
"Happy" after
Recently in my family studies class at high school, we have been discussing the "ideal" relationship. Also discussing how to build/maintain a good relationship. There are many different ways people keep a good relationship going so I'll just go over the five steps we learned in class, using my sister and her fiance as an example.
Step 1: Strong Foundation- My sister and her fiance went to high school together just as friends, then once they got to know each other they started dating. This is definitely a strong foundation for them.
Step 2: Build Healthy Patterns- Justin works nights one week out of the whole month, the rest are days. Jordan works during the day while Aubree has a baby-sitter.
Step 3: Explore Each others interest- Jordan never used to hunt until she met Justin, now she loves it! Justin doesn't really like watching girly t.v. shows, but he watches anyway for Jordan.
Step 4: Establish a pattern of apologizing- Usually when Jordan and Justin get into an argument, they both think they're right and stick to that for about 15 min or so.. then Justin usually apologizes and says she's right. I think mainly he does that to make her happy.
